Rickey's Reads

I love to read, though I don't have any time to do it! However, this Fall, I'm pledging to read more! In fact, I have two books that I want to read! Reading has been proven to keep your mind sharp, expand your vocabulary and always give you something to talk about! Many of the things that I know about life, wealth and fashion, I learned from reading. From Langston Hughes to Donald Trump to Anna Wintour, reading has had a powerful influence in my life. When I was in middle school, I would only spend money on books. Every couple of weeks, I would come home with a new book! I am a slow reader, but if it's something that I enjoy reading, it never takes me long to read a book!

The books on my Fall list are Love Does by Bob Goff and Extraordinary Circumstances by Cynthia Cooper! Yes, these books are both really different, but I can't wait to dive in.

Love Does is a collection of stories told by Bob Goff, showcasing how love takes action! The title of this book is almost parallel with the saying "actions speak louder than words". I hold that to be true 1000%, and I can't wait to dive into Love Does and give my feedback on the words written by Bob Goff! My friend Derek told me about this book, I had heard nothing about it, until Derek asked me if I had read it, and I said no! He about lost it, and said that my homework assignment was to read the book. So I bought a copy, and I can't wait to read it!
Extraordinary Circumstances is the story of Cynthia Cooper, Former Vice President of WorldCom! Cynthia was the "whistleblower" in the largest accounting fraud in corporate history! She is also from my hometown, Augusta! I plan on diving into this book, and getting the full details of this riveting and tragic story. Cynthia came to speak at our school tonight, for the Russell A. Blanchard, Distinguished Lecture Series, sponsored by Georgia Bank and Trust, and The Hull College of Business! She was a fantastic speaker, and she even signed my copy of the book! Cynthia and I have something else in common, she studied Accounting under Dr. Michael Dugan, who is my Accounting Professor this semester! So, we got to share that intimate moment, and it was very cool!

Stay tuned as I take this amazing journey with these two amazing books!
